Train A Cat To Call, Play and Sit
How To - Many people think that training a cat is difficult. However, you can teach your cat to come when you call, pick up toys you throw, and sit down too.
Here are some tips for educating your cat! Teach him to come to you. Start the exercise in your kitchen. Cats love this place because this is where they are fed.
How To Call
Hold a food bowl in your hand that contains a snack. Call your cat by his name while shaking the contents of the bowl. If your cat is ignoring you, not knowing what's going on, walk up to him and shake the container in front of his eyes and let his nose smell the treat.
Give him a present and return to the kitchen. Shake the container again, say by name. When he finally comes to the kitchen, give him a treat.
Repeat this exercise, calling his name while shaking the bowl, ten times a day. Make sure you have enough snacks. You will notice, during practice, that it will end faster than the first time. But be careful, keep the dosage specified on the package and adjust it with your main meal.
Repeat this training session on the next day. Then try calling him from the kitchen without waving the bowl, but just saying his name.
The following days you will repeat this exercise in a different room in the house. He will understand very quickly that when you call him, he is appreciated.
When this learning is well acquired, gradually and alternately replace treats with caresses.
When teaching your cat to come to you, use a higher pitch of voice. It's true that cats are more attracted to high pitched voices, because on the other hand, a low voice can mean that they will be reprimanded.
Instead of calling him by name, you can also choose to use the sound of an object to teach him to come. You will get very good results with "clicker training" for cats, for example with a bell or a clap.
But know that whatever you use, you should only use it to teach your cat to come.
However, sometimes you do need to teach your cat to stay away from something or something dangerous.
You can get used to the method above using an object that produces noise. Like the sound of grains of sand on the floor stepped on by shoes. Make a sound like it's swiping while saying the word to get away.
How To Play
Teach him to bring back his toys. Yes, your cat can learn to pick up a ball or other object you throw! Of course, you should use something your cat can easily put in his mouth.
You can use one of the toys, like the stuffed mouse for example, but a crumpled sheet of newspaper often works better.
Start by getting your cat's attention. If you are using a crumpled sheet of newspaper, squeeze it between your hands and make a sound.
Once your cat sees you, throw the paper ball right behind it. He would probably go after her and play with her.
Pick up the ball again, congratulate your cat, and return to its original place. If your cat picks up a paper ball with its mouth, don't try to pick it up.
Praise him and slowly return to your seat, encouraging your cat to follow you. He will probably stay where he is. Then wait until he drops it, pick it up and throw it again.
Do the exercise for about ten minutes, don't forget to keep praising him. Repeat the game at the same time every day.
After a few days, try to wait a while before bringing the paper balls back. Your cat may become impatient and return the ball to you. This may take some time, so don't lose your temper.
How To Sit
Teach him to sit. The best time to teach your cat to sit is before eating.
Bring a treat, show it to your cat but don't give it to him. Hold the snack high above his head and then lower it to his nose, saying, "sit down".
The cat will follow your movements and will sit down. Then give him a gift and praise him.
If your cat won't sit down, hold the treat slightly in front of his nose by telling him to sit down and pressing the back end just above his tail.
When he sits down, give him a snack and praise him. Repeat this exercise every day until it works!
In short, it is quite possible to train a cat. Snacks are very important as a fishing tool. Always avoid being rude. Patience is the key to success.
